The history of CRP and fibreglass manufacturer Kunststoffverarbeitung Wimmer GmbH - Wimmer Carbontechnik:

1961

Franz Wimmer Sr., master joiner, started a joinery business with three employees. The company Brewi was born. Interest in canoeing led the company to produce kayaks and canoes made of fibreglass. Extra light and separable kayaks were developed for expeditions.
The foundations were laid for plastics processing.

1973

The first BREWI surfboards were developed and produced with a hollow structure. Further work with plastics followed.

1992

The company Kunststoffverarbeitung Wimmer GmbH was founded with Franz Wimmer Jr. as CEO Master Plastics Technician Further research and experiments enabled an array of new techniques for plastics processing to be tested and improved.

1995

The product range was expanded:
• Motor sport parts made of carbon fibre
• Technical fibreglass parts
• Prototype parts made of fibreglass and carbon fibre
• Repairing plastic parts, etc.

1996

The company purchased a KUKA 6-axis robot

1997

First batch production of carbon fibre visible components

2000

Production capabilities were expanded by the purchase of an autoclave.

2002

The company bought a CNC cutter, a malleablising furnace and two more autoclaves.

2004

It bought a plane table.

2005

The company purchased a 3D coordinate measuring machine and a Scholz autoclave.

2007

The company built a new production hall with a finishing clean room, renovated an old building and bought
a grinding room.

2008

It purchased a Terruzzi autoclave.

2009

It has had its own construction department since 1 November 2009.

2010

The company purchased a Step-Four Xpert 1000 SI cutting machine.
